You may recognize his name from the line of colorful apparel that fishermen everywhere love to sport but Guy Harvey’s passion for the oceans goes much deeper than the renowned art he creates.
Today, it is estimated that approximately 5,000,000,000,000 (yes, trillion) pieces of plastic litter our oceans. Everything from plastic bags, to fishing wire, and straws. Not only has this created a massive problem regarding the health of our oceans and water quality but it has also created a tremendous threat to the animals that inhabit it.
Members of the SeaWorld Orlando Rescue Team took to the road this week to aid a manatee spotted in the upper reaches of the Cooper River in Charleston, S.C

Remember that plastic bottle that fell out of your car, or the plastic bag that got away from you at the grocery store? Maybe you forgot to throw away your fishing line after a day on the water. To you these ordinary items may be a single piece of litter - that you swear you’ll pick up next time. But to many marine mammals these items can be life threatening.
On Feb. 4 the SeaWorld Rescue Team was called in to help a malnourished sea lion pup that had taken a seat at the local Marine Room Restaurant in La Jolla, CA.
