Two killer whales underwater

SeaWorld has ended its killer whale breeding program, making the orcas in our care the last generation. Our whales will continue to thrive under the best veterinary care for the remainder of their lives here.

We've introduced an all-new orca experience, Orca Encounter, at SeaWorld San Diego. This encounter takes place in more natural looking habitats, with a focus on the whales’ natural behaviors. The new encounters include the awe-inspiring moments you love with an added emphasis on education and conservation – ensuring future generations will be inspired for years to come.

Get the answers to all your questions and learn more about SeaWorld’s exciting new future.

Last generation of killer whales

The killer whales in our care will be the last at SeaWorld. We haven’t collected a whale from the wild in nearly 40 years. With the skills and dedication of our entire SeaWorld team, we will protect and care for these whales – here at our parks – for the rest of their lives, ensuring that future generations will be inspired for years to come.

Experiences that Matter - New, inspiring, educational orca encounters

We have integrated new, engaging & educational presentations into our orca shows. These changes reflect the natural world, research, education and care -- aligning with our mission to advance the well-being and conservation of these beautiful creatures.

Partnership to protect oceans and marine mammals

SeaWorld and the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) have joined together in a partnership focused on the health of our oceans and the animals that call them home. We have common ground, in that both of our organizations love animals and want to protect them. The partnership helps each group extend its own mission and is based on our joint interest in preserving and protecting wild animals and the places they live. The issues around animal conservation and protection are much bigger than any one organization, and we can be much stronger together.
